How it works:
Photo sessions take place in your home. To get good photographs of relaxed,
happy kids, it helps to have comfortable, familiar surroundings and ready
access to snacks, favorite toys, fresh diapers, and familiar places to take a
break. And it's much easier to do clothing changes and naked baby shots!
I shoot using a handheld digital SLR camera — no tripod — so I can capture
spontaneous moments and follow the shot wherever it goes (even down to the
floor). And I use continuous studio light sources — no flashes or strobes —
because nobody likes flashes in their eyes.
Photo sessions last about 1-2 hours. I usually take upwards of 200 shots in a
session. In the week or two following the shoot, I review each image
individually, winnow the selection down to 30-50 keepers, and do basic
processing, color correction, any necessary retouching, and custom black-and-
white conversions (if desired).
The finished images from a shoot are posted in a password-protected online
gallery accessible from the Client Area. You select pictures and order prints
directly from the gallery, and they're processed by a quality photo lab and
shipped directly to you. There are no packages or standard assortments of
prints, so you're free to choose the exact assortment of sizes and quantities
you prefer. The gallery remains accessible for 12 months, so you can log back
in and order more prints, or share the gallery with friends and family so they
can order their own.
